The first version was very bland, as the story was not thought all the way through in the beginning. However, it gave me an idea of what I was looking for in the game. In this version, I went with the platform perspective.

Everything here was used as a placeholder to get the surroundings an understanding of where things were going to be.

Current Version

Please be excused as the images were done by both Valerie Walters (maps) and Lauren Hausmann (digital art)/(drawings were done by both).

The current version is closer to what the game is aimed to look like and be. Due to having little time, the game was not successfully brought to a game play standard but is in the first skeleton phase pass of the game.

Thanks to Spring 2023 semester’s group, I was able to have a better understanding of what I wanted to the game to be like. We assembled the story and some ideas of what the characters look like along with the art style. The only missing goal is having a demo version at the end due to all the planning.

Animation

The animation of the characters walk was made on photoshop. Where we exported artboards and inserted them into unreal engine. The artboards give the illusion of the character walking, running, or jumping, when in reality the artboards are just constantly circulating in the formation, we put them in.

All characters were put into pixel format for the time being to make things quick for now, as we were finishing up a senior project.

A brother and sister live happily in a small quiet town in the Canadian forests. As the day of their religious festival grows near, excitement in the town begins to show with the beautiful flowers strung up and the churches singing more traditional songs.

However, a day that was supposed to be filled with laughter and joy is taken over by fear in the young brother’s heart. The air thickening as his sister walks up the churches steps to be selected as the chosen one. Why does it feel as if this is goodbye?

This is an adventure with the main character Uni as he decides whether to save his sister and go against everything he has ever known, or let things be.
